Our Mission
RandomLists.app was built out of a simple frustration: too many decisions, too much back-and-forth, too much wasted time. Whether it's choosing where to eat, picking a name for a character, or assigning tasks fairly, small decisions can drain energy that should go toward bigger things.
Our mission is to eliminate that friction. Every tool on this site is free, requires no account, and stores nothing on our servers. We use the Fisher-Yates shuffle so that every result is statistically fair. Each outcome is equally likely, with no weighting toward the popular or the familiar.

How the Tools Work
Shuffles use the Fisher-Yates algorithm and single picks draw one entry uniformly at random, both with the random number generator built into your browser. Each item gets exactly the same chance; nothing is weighted, promoted or sponsored. The draw runs on your device, so the list you paste never reaches our servers.

Where the Data Comes From
When a tool suggests something real, the entry is real and checkable. The restaurant picker draws from venues recognised by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, the MICHELIN Guide or a James Beard Award, and every card names its source. The movie generator lists every film that won the Oscar for Best Picture, the Palme d’Or, the Golden Lion or the Golden Bear, with facts taken from Wikidata. The university list is hand-curated and checked against public sources. We do not invent entries to pad a tool, and you can report an error from the Contact page.
Who Builds This
RandomLists.app is built and maintained by FlexMinde Studio, an independent software studio. It started as an internal project to solve a real problem: too many small decisions and too much wasted time. It is designed for teachers drawing names, teams splitting tasks, writers looking for a character name, and anyone stuck choosing dinner.
No venture capital, no sale of personal data, no dark patterns. If you find the tools useful, the best way to support the project is to use it and share it with someone who needs it.
How the Site Is Funded
The tools are free, and the site is paid for by advertising served by Google AdSense. Ads are kept clearly separate from the tools and never decide a result. Our Privacy Policy explains how advertising cookies work and how to opt out of personalised ads.
